Fundación Buin Zoo strengthens its presence in Conservation International

Within the framework of the activities carried out by the Fundación Buin Zoo to generate scientific knowledge and promote evidence-based conservation actions, its constant collaboration with groups of national and international specialists committed to the protection of the environment stands out.

A recent milestone in this work occurred last December, when Ezequiel Hidalgo, founder and head of Conservation and Research of our organization, was elected as a new member of the board of directors of the Veterinary Section of the Wildlife Diseases Association (WDA). This international entity, with more than 70 years of experience, is widely recognized as the most important global entity in terms of health and disease management in wild animals.

This achievement highlights the commitment and leadership of the Fundación Buin Zoo in the field of conservation. In addition, Ezequiel Hidalgo already plays a prominent role in other renowned international organizations, such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), where he participates in three groups of experts focused on deer, bears and wildlife health.

At the national level, Hidalgo is also part of the group of advisors for the Recovery, Conservation and Management (RECOGE) plans for huemul in the Nevados de Chillán and the chilote fox or Darwin, which reinforces its dedication to the protection of threatened species in Chile.

With these advances, it Fundación Buin Zoo continues to consolidate itself as a reference in the field of conservation, contributing to the development of scientific strategies that promote the protection of biodiversity both in the country and in the rest of the world.
